Hidden Art & Public Spaces Tour
“Time To Let Go…”, the art piece on Vancouver Art Gallery’s Offsite gallery, looks like a bunch of pots in a pool of water. And, well, for all intents and purposes it is pots in a pool of water – but it’s also an interactive art piece where workers who are having a bad day can ascend from their offices and scream into the pots (they muffle the noise) to release some tension and emotion.
Every day hundreds of locals walk through downtown Vancouver – for work, shopping or to try that new hip restaurant – all the while walking passed public art pieces and public spaces, without so much as a second glance. That’s the goal of the new Downtown Hidden Art & Public Spaces tour by Tour Guys: to shine light on those hidden respites or art pieces that locals walk by every day – including “Time to Let Go…” at the Shangri-La Hotel. The tour is free and it’s broken into three 45 minute parts to fit into your lunch break. Join the tour for 1, 2 or all parts, depending on your schedule.
